Israel and FCTA to collaborate on agriculture, security, and the digital economy – Wike
According to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the FCT Administration would collaborate with the State of Israel on digital economy, security, and agriculture.
This was said by Wike on Tuesday when he met with Mr. Michael Freeman, the Israeli ambassador to Nigeria, in his office in Abuja.
He pledged to work with Israel as a partner in information technology, particularly in the creation of the envisaged Technology Village in Abuja.
The minister continued by saying that Abuja’s climate is also favourable for the growth of agriculture.
“Since the local environment is conducive to agriculture, I’d like to collaborate with you to establish a sizable, technologically advanced farm that would hire a lot of our young people.
If you can open that channel, that would be beneficial, he remarked.
Wike also urged collaboration to enhance security in the FCT, highlighting how important security was in allowing people to conduct business without fear.
He said, “Let’s cooperate to assist us lessen some of the insecurity in FCT.
Freeman had before promised to help the FCT minister establish Abuja as a centre for technology utilising Israeli know-how.
He emphasised the need for collaboration to create a technology-driven economy in the federal capital, claiming that when people think of technology today, Lagos is always the first place they think of.
“I want to talk with your team about setting up centres where individuals can learn about the digital economy and create digital start-ups using Israeli knowledge.
In order to create jobs, we would be happy to collaborate with you on Nigerian agriculture. We will also collaborate with you on security, renewable energy, and the digital economy.
We have great opportunities to work on, he declared.
