The Chinese ambassador to the United Nations, Dai Bing, has expressed concern over Iran’s retaliatory strikes on Israel, labeling it as an “adverse spillover” of the Gaza conflict.

He warned that this situation could potentially escalate and further destabilize the entire Middle East region.

Dai’s remarks came after Iran launched a series of airstrikes on Israel in response to the bombing of an Iranian consular compound in Syria. Israel has not yet responded to these accusations. Speaking at a UN Security Council emergency meeting, Dai strongly condemned Israel’s attack, describing it as a violation of international law and the sovereignty of both Syria and Iran.

He emphasized the importance of ending the hostilities in Gaza, as it directly impacts the peace, stability, and long-term security of the region. Dai urged Israel and Iran to exercise maximum calm and restraint to prevent further escalations.

He also reiterated the need for the full implementation of the two-state solution to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. China has called on the international community, particularly influential countries, to play a constructive role in addressing the ongoing situation.
