Iran has initiated a large-scale ballistic missile assault on Israel, with the elite Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) asserting that they have launched “dozens” of missiles aimed at military targets throughout the country.
The IRGC stated that the attack is a retaliation for two significant assassinations: Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, who was killed in Tehran last July; and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was recently killed in Lebanon. Iran has also cautioned Israel against any form of counterattack, warning that such actions would be met with a “crushing response.”
Several missiles launched on Tuesday evening appear to have bypassed Israel’s anti-aircraft defenses, according to numerous videos circulating online.

Several videos seem to display interceptions of incoming rockets. Despite these efforts, the sheer scale of the attack has enabled Iran to breach defenses, resulting in multiple strikes on the ground.
Reports indicate that an offshore gas platform near Ashkelon was hit, with at least one strike confirmed. Unverified video footage suggests the installation is engulfed in flames and visible from a considerable distance.
In addition to activating ground defenses, Israel reportedly scrambled 25 of its F-15 fighter jets in response to the attack. However, a significant portion of the IDF’s fleet remains stationed in northern Israel, where it has been actively conducting bombing operations against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
