Iran confirms a successful rocket launch as part of its space program, despite widespread condemnation from Western nations. Discover the details and global reactions.

On Friday, Iran announced the launch of a rocket carrying a satellite.

Following a series of unsuccessful launches, the country announced that this attempt proceeded as planned; however, there was no immediate independent confirmation to verify this claim.

Aboard the rocket were two research systems that could allow Tehran to achieve geosynchronous orbit for its satellites, a long-standing goal of the country.

Yunes Shadloo, an IRINN reporter, announced during the launch that Iran’s space industry achieved a milestone by sending its heaviest payload into space. This cargo included the Saman orbital propulsion system and the Fakhr 1 satellite of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s army, delivered via Simorgh satellite carrier in its eighth mission.

The West believes that Iran’s space program contributes to the advancement of its ballistic missile capabilities.

In the past, the United Nations has maintained that launching satellites breaches a U.N. Security Council resolution.

It has called on Tehran to refrain from engaging in any activities involving missiles that are capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
