The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, said on Friday that Governor Peter Mba was being pressured by “Aso Rock” to extort the Supreme Court in order to delay the ruling of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, which is scheduled for December 15.
IPOB was alluding to Mba’s statement in which he characterised the organisation as being outlawed.
Speaking to State House Correspondents on a visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Mba made the statement.

But IPOB cautioned that if the governor kept using the group’s name to “buy favour from Tinubu’s administration,” he would be committing a “costly mistake.”
“The unguarded and reckless utterances from the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mba, after his visit to Aso Rock a few days ago have drawn the attention of the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” according to a statement released by Powerful.
“Dr. Peter Mba addressed IPOB as a prohibited organisation and blamed us for the infamous sit-at-home because he was under pressure to use IPOB as a pawn in the days leading up to the Supreme Court’s decision in Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case.
“The illiterate Unbeknownst to Peter Mbah, he had already openly denounced Simon Ekpa, the man behind the Monday sit-at-home movement and its enforcer. Is it not apparent that the Tinubu administration would have exerted pressure on Dr. Peter Mba, the governor of Enugu State, to blame IPOB for the infamous sit-at-homes and Southeast Asian insecurity? That’s why he barked like a scared dog and went out of control.
Therefore, given that the Supreme Court’s ruling on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case is just a few days away, we implore the people to disregard the raving of a cowardly governor who is being pressured by the federal government to demonise IPOB.
“You are making a costly error if you keep using the IPOB moniker to curry favour with Tinubu’s administration. IPOB won’t be taken lightly. It would be incorrect to interpret our tenderness, quietness, love for our people, and stillness as cowardice. It is important to exercise caution so as not to incite unrest for your government. We are aware that you talk too much, and if you are unable to properly address the media, you ought to find a substitute or find another way to get your message out. IPOB provides antibiotics for all of you.
“IPOB urges the justices of the Nigerian Supreme Court once more to resist blackmail and free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who has been found not guilty by the Court of Appeal. They also issue a warning that no Nigerian court should try him. Being self-reliant is not illegal. However, it is against international rules and conventions to abduct and render a freedom fighter in an exceptional manner.
“IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu cannot give in to blackmail. That’s the Rubicon crossed. Retrenchment and capitulation are not options. Today belongs to Dr. Mba and the other blackmailers, but IPOB and other sincere Biafran freedom warriors will own tomorrow. The scope of IPOB exceeds some of your imaginations. Time will tell.
