The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has announced a sit-at-home order to be observed across the Southeast on May 30, as a way to pay tribute to the Biafran heroes who lost their lives during the civil war from 1967 to 1970.
In a statement released by Emma Powerful, the spokesperson of IPOB, it was made clear that all sectors including schools, government offices, private offices, banks, transport unions, market unions, and individuals are expected to cease all activities on that day.
The declaration emphasized the significance of May 30 as a day to remember and honor the sacrifices made by those who fought for the freedom and survival of Biafrans, urging everyone to reflect on the history and impact of the Nigeria-Biafra war.

We urge Christians and adherents of traditional worship to dedicate this day to offering prayers to Chukwu Okike Abiama for the courageous heroes who sacrificed their lives, as well as to pray for the realization of Biafra Independence from the entity known as Nigeria.
The Heroes Remembrance Day serves as a solemn reminder for Biafrans to pay tribute to the brave heroes who tragically lost their lives during the brutal atrocities committed against the Igbo people from 1967 to 1970, both during and after the genocidal war.
Biafrans residing in the Northern and Western regions of Nigeria, often referred to as the ‘zoo’, will observe this day by coming together in solidarity and observing a period of reflection and remembrance for the valiant men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom and survival of their people.
