Philip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo State, stated on Thursday that no person or organisation could scare him out of the governorship race scheduled for September 21.

Shaibu asserted that he has what it takes to win the polls when he put in his Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, nomination form for the governorship race on Thursday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Shaibu claimed that the top bidders had acquired control of a few party elders.
But he said he was confident that the young people and some older people who support him would get him a ticket to the party.
By God’s favour, we have organic support rather than purchased. I am not a candidate who is isolated from the public or who is being forced to run.
“Edo people, the voters are familiar with me; they can feel and touch me.” Godfatherism is a problem that we have previously addressed, but it is coming up again.
“I am glad that the governor advised us to deal with him even if he attempts to force someone to be our new godfather.
“The mandate of the people is what we stand on. He declared, “My support is natural, and PDP will keep its seat in Edo State with Shaibu.”
