The Nigerian Air Force announced on Monday that the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch successfully eliminated a group of terrorists riding on 15 motorbikes in Kaduna State.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorism and kidnapping in the North West and North Central regions.
The Director of Public Relations and Information (DPRI) of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshal Edward Gabkwet, released a statement in Abuja providing details of the operation.
The statement mentioned that the strike was carried out based on intelligence reports of the syndicate’s movement along the Kwiga-Kampamin Doka axis in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The intelligence also revealed that this same group was responsible for previous attacks, including the ambush on troops at Kwanan Mutuwa on January 27th, as well as multiple attacks and abductions of innocent civilians in Birnin Gwari.
Upon reaching the suspected location, a thorough scan confirmed the presence of the terrorists, who were seen traveling in a convoy of 15 motorcycles, with each bike carrying at least two armed individuals.
