William Troost-Ekong, a defender for the Super Eagles, responded to a widely circulated rumour that he sustained an injury during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Round of 16 match against Cameroon and is questionable for Friday’s quarterfinal matchup with Angola.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to play Angola on Friday after defeating Cameroon 2-0 on Saturday.

The Super Eagles’ Monday rehabilitation session did not include Troost-Ekong or Victor Osimhen, which added fire to the rumours.

If manager Jose Peseiro chooses to start Troost-Ekong against Angola, he has declared that he is prepared to do so.

He told reporters in Abidjan, “You are going to see a team as motivated as we have been for the entire tournament.”

“Throughout, our message has been consistent. Our goal will be to enhance our previous performance. This will be a difficult game.

Since the Ivory Coast game, I’ve been dealing with a minor injury, so I’m just trying to take care of myself. But if the coach chooses to start me on Friday, I’ll be prepared to play.
