According to Major Ishaku Sebastine, spokesman for the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army in Rukuba Barrack, Jos, the operation’s soldiers attacked a nearby factory that manufactures weapons and detained the suspect after acting on intelligence reports.
In an interview with journalists, the suspect stated: “I began studying the business in 2014, when my father was still alive.” I lack the necessary licences to run the company. I charge vigilantes N25,000 for each item I sell. Everything in this room belonged to my late father. All I’m producing are cartridges for sale.
The army spokesperson went on to say that the arrest occurred in the midst of ongoing efforts by OPSH to address the proliferation of weapons in accordance with the guidelines and deadline provided by Lt Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff.
He stated that the exercise was producing positive results and guaranteed that the soldiers will continue to be devoted, firm, and unrelenting in their pursuit of those who commit crimes, protecting the rule of law and guaranteeing the security and welfare of every community they are responsible for.
