Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim, the spouse of a killed daughter of a Borno House of Assembly member representing Ngala Local Government Area, has been detained, according to the Borno State Police Command.
Fatima Alhaji Bukar, his wife of 25 years, was allegedly murdered by Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim, 31, who was then detained.
In a statement made available to the media on Friday, the command’s public relations officer, ASP Sani Kamilu Muhammed, revealed this information and noted that the deceased’s spouse and Dikechiri resident Bukar Wadiya, 39, had both been detained.
The statement said, in part:
“On October 18, 2023, at around 1800 hours, Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim, 31, of Dikechiri Bayan Gidan Dambe area, Maiduguri, travelled to Gwange Division with Bukar Wadiya, 39, in a Honda vehicle with the registration numbers MAG 230 AP and ANR742256679821, carrying the body of a woman he claimed to be his wife and requesting emergency assistance from the police.
“Fatima Alhaji Bukar was later revealed to be the woman.
“The husband claimed to be a UBA employee and said he returned from work at around 1700 hours to find her lying down in a pool of blood.”

The couple reportedly had several domestic issues prior to the incident over an alleged extramarital affair by the husband at their marital residence, according to the statement.
The statement continued, “The house where the incident occurred located at Dikechiri Bayan Gidan Dambe area, Maiduguri, was secured and during search, the following exhibits were recovered: one short pestle, a rope, a rug carpet stained with blood, a knife, and a Honda vehicle with CHASSIS NO ANR742256679821, PLATE NO MAG230AP and a mucus stained pillow.
It stated that a covert investigation is being conducted for careful prosecution.
The deceased was strangled last Tuesday around Gidan Dembe in Maiduguri by unidentified individuals, according to a previous report by OBASANJONEWS24, and her body was buried last Wednesday in accordance with Islamic customs.
