INEC Reveals New Voter Registrations for Edo, Ondo Elections

In preparation for the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo States, INEC has declared a pause to registering new voters.

The total number of newly registered voters for Edo and Ondo states were revealed by INEC to be 119,206 and 58,708 correspondingly.

Excluding transfer applications within the two states, as they were already recorded on the voter register, was explained by The Commission.

On Monday, Sam Olumekun – the National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee – announced this information in a statement.

According to Olumekun, the commission will unveil the complete and conclusive list of voters for both states’ 2024 gubernatorial elections within a few days.

There are 119,206 new voters registered for Edo State and 58,708 for Ondo State. The aforementioned numbers exclude the transfer applications of 8,847 into Edo from other Federation states and 3,132 into Ondo.

Transfer applications within both states have already been recorded on the voter register thus excluded from these statistics.

The recently added data of new voters and inter-state transfers have been incorporated into the current registry.

Within a few days, the Commission will unveil the complete and definitive voter register for both states to be utilized during their 2024 gubernatorial elections.
