Despite his inclusion on the list of political party chairmen featured on their website, INEC has disregarded Julius Abure as the National Chairman of Labour Party.
In a counter-affidavit filed in the Federal High Court Abuja, it has been revealed that Labour Party’s exclusion from INEC’s refresher training for uploading party agents before the gubernatorial elections of Edo and Ondo states is being challenged. This new information has come to light through the court filing.

The document from INEC made it clear that Abure’s term as National Chairman of the Labour Party ended in June 2024.
Since June of this year, the Labour Party has been embroiled in a new struggle for leadership after the party’s congress in Anambra state prolonged Julius Abure’s tenure as leader.
Many people within the party, including former deputy chairman Callistus Okafor, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi jointly held a national Congress to resolve the impasse caused by doubts about the outcome of that congress.
