Dr. Elizabeth Agwu, the resident electoral commissioner (REC), made this declaration on Wednesday during a media briefing at the INEC headquarters in Awka.

Agwu stated that the court decision directing the cancellation of the election in the 21 polling places in the two federal seats and their rerun was the reason for the rerun.

She stated that there would be five polling places for the election: one ward in Orumba North, sixteen polling places, and four wards in Nnewi North.

She continued by saying that sufficient preparations had been done by INEC in Anambra to guarantee a legitimate, fair, and free election.

She informed the affected LGAs that the results of the rerun polls for the federal constituency candidates will determine the winner.

In order to cast their votes, the REC requested the 97,438 registered voters in the impacted LGAs to turn out in large numbers.
