The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will resume in Edo and Ondo states. This will allow eligible citizens who are not registered voters to register.
The announcement comes ahead of the governorship elections in both states, which are scheduled for September 21 and November 16, 2024, respectively.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made this known during a consultative meeting with political party leaders.
He stated that the registration will be conducted at ward level and state headquarters, rather than the local government area offices and designated centers as in the past.

The CVR in Edo and Ondo states will take place simultaneously from May 27 to June 5, 2024. The registration will be open from 9.00am to 3.00pm daily, including weekends.
It is important to note that the CVR is only open to new registrants and those who wish to transfer their registration.
Professor Yakubu emphasized that individuals who are already registered as voters should not attempt to register again, as it is illegal to have double or multiple registrations.
However, lost or damaged voters’ cards can be replaced during the registration process without the need for fresh registration.
