Inaugurating committee, the assembly pledges to drive out unlicensed miners from Kogi

The Committee on Solid Mineral and Sustainable Development Goals has been formally established by the Kogi State House of Assembly, which has vowed to expel all illegitimate miners from the State.

Hon. Omotayo Adeleye Ishaya, the chairman of the House Committee on Solid Minerals and Sustainable Development Goals and a representative for the Ijumu State Constituency, pledged that any illegal miners found operating in Kogi State would be seized and subjected to the full force of the law.

You guys are aware of how we women are, gentlemen of the press. Every action we take is done thoroughly, without fear of reprisal. We have taken a lot of steps to stop some nefarious operations related to mining in our beloved State.

“Some companies are taking use of our God-given riches without observing the law, it has come to the attention of this holy chamber. On the basis of this assumption, we are issuing a warning that things won’t continue as usual.

Despite their extensive network, “We will pursue them. The eight Assembly will find them and bring them out of hiding. To improve Kogi State’s internally generated revenue, the committee would make sure that everything is done correctly, she said.

Hon. Abu Onoru-Oiza Jibrin, who represents the Ajaokuta State Constituency, stated earlier in his remarks that the committee is prepared to get things going by carrying out its oversight duties as stipulated in the 1999 constitution as amended.

He stated that Kogi State is endowed with an abundance of natural and mineral resources, necessitating the coordination of efforts among the many authorities for Kogi State’s overall development.
