Additionally, the US promised to arm the IDF in its war with Hamas.
In response to Israel’s escalating conflict with Palestinian militants, the Pentagon is sending an aircraft carrier strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean.
Five guided missile destroyers are part of the armada, which is commanded by the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) will also get ammunition and other military supplies, according to US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin, who made the announcement on Sunday.
Austin said in a statement: “Strengthening our combined military posture highlights the United States’ unwavering support for the Israel Defence Forces and the Israeli people, in addition to the material help that we will give to Israel promptly.
Israel was the target of a surprise attack by Hamas and other Palestinian organisations on Saturday morning. President Joe Biden had earlier pledged to provide “all appropriate means of support” to Israel.
The IDF expressed gratitude to the US for its assistance, but Marwan Bishar, head political commentator for Al Jazeera, claimed that sending a carrier group would result in a “major escalation.”

On Sunday, Bishar declared that the idea of an armaments buildup in the Middle East at this moment was risky.
The militant groups infiltrated Israel from Gaza via land, sea, and air to launch their assault on the Jewish state. There were almost 2,500 missiles launched, and numerous Israeli soldiers and citizens were killed or abducted.
In response, Israel launched airstrikes on Gaza and sent troops closer to its southern border. On Sunday, the Israeli government used Article 40 of its Basic Law to formally proclaim a state of war.
Both Israeli and Palestinian officials estimate that since early Saturday, more than 700 Israelis and at least 413 Palestinians have died.
