In South Korea, at least 13 people were hurt after a guy slammed a car onto a pavement, then hopped out and began stabbing people near a metro station in the city of Seongnam.

According to Yoon Sung-hyun of the southern Gyeonggi provincial police department, at least nine individuals were stabbed and four others were injured by the vehicle on Thursday. Police did not say whether anyone was seriously injured.

However, according to the Newsis agency, at least one victim of the incident died.

An unidentified suspect was being questioned by police at the scene.

In response to the attack, the National Police Agency announced an online meeting with regional police chiefs later Thursday to discuss how to deal with stabbings and other attacks against random targets.

Police Commissioner General Yoon Hee-keun stated the incident was a “terror act” and described it as an indiscriminate attack on civilians, although he did not elaborate on the motives.

The event occurred just days after another unusual stabbing attack in Seoul, which killed one person and injured three more.

On July 21, a knife-wielding guy stabbed at least four pedestrians on a roadway in Seoul, South Korea.

They claimed a man in his 30s with an unspecified criminal past was apprehended. The reason for the attack was not immediately evident.
