In Sokoto, bandits kill a 120-year-old grandmother and five other people

Before stealing an unspecified number of domestic animals, gunmen thought to be bandits attacked the Raka village in the Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. They destroyed numerous homes and food supplies.

According to information obtained by Obasanjonews24, the marauders also killed five other community members and a 120-year-old woman.

Alhaji Sa’idu Wakili, the district chief for the area, confirmed the attack when he was called on the phone. He said that no one was taken, but that two-thirds of the homes, food, and animals were burned down by the bandits.

He asked the federal and state governments to work harder to address the region’s security issues.

The district chief also told the wealthiest people in the area to come up with good ways to protect people’s lives and property.

Alhaji Ibrahim Lawal Junju, the acting chairman of the Tangaza Local Government Council, visited the area with Engr. Mai Damma Tangaza, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Roads Maintenance, and expressed sympathy to the locals. He also pledged to report his findings to the government so that the victims could receive the necessary aid.

As of the time this report was made, Obasanjonews24 said that neither the state government nor the security services had made any official statements.
