When bandits invaded a weekly market at Yar Bulutu in the Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto State on Monday, they killed six people in broad daylight.
According to a report, the event occurred at 12:30 pm when the robbers assaulted the shoppers and sellers in the market and fired randomly in all directions.
To the State House of Assembly, Sa’idu Ibrahim, who represents Sabon Birni South, stated the source reported that the robbers, numbering approximately 90 (90), who carried out the horrific attack, arrived at the market on about 20 bikes, each carrying three people.
The informant went on to say, “First they proceeded to the area where the mobile police officers were stationed, directing the market.
They burned one of their trucks and murdered two of them.
The source claims that the bandits later killed a second police officer who had fled into the woods, dragged his body out of the woods, and threw it into the burning car. They are also said to have killed three people in the market and injured several others with various degrees of wounds.
He stated that he is now with a brother who is having treatment at the Orthopaedic hospital in Wamakko after being shot in the leg by the assailants. He said that bandits who had escaped a prolonged military assault in Zamfara, Katsina, were responsible for the incident.
