Along the Funtua-Zaria Road in the Gulbala neighbourhood of Kaduna state’s Giwa Local Government Area, a security team made up of police officers and soldiers has rescued 76 people.
They were freed on Friday when the Police Divisional Headquarters in Giwa learned that a huge group of bandits had blocked the route with high-tech firearms to kidnap innocent passengers.
This information was revealed in a statement released on Monday by DSP Mohammed Jalige, the public relations officer for the State Police Command.
He claims that the police and military were summoned to the scene right away to clear the road roadblock, apprehend the armed criminals, and free any victims they might have kidnapped.
44 people are kidnapped by bandits in a hamlet in Zamfara as a result of airstrikes that also devastate camps in Kaduna.
He said that upon arriving at the scene, a Ford open truck with the registration number APP 667 XG was discovered, and evidence gathered suggested that the robbers had forced several of the vehicle’s occupants off the road.
According to DSP Jalige, the bandits were found in the jungle during an emergency rescue effort by the operatives, and as a result of pressure from the security agents, they gave up their evil plan.
“Crack operators spent many hours thoroughly searching the woodland and were able to save a huge number of victims, numbering 76 in all, including men and women of all ages.”
“The victims who were passengers on the truck were travelling from Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State en-route different locations when they were stopped by the marauders, according to a preliminary inquiry,” he added.
Security personnel, according to Jalige, are currently searching the general area for the primary truck driver and two other passengers who have not yet been located.
According to him, Yekini Ayoku, the commissioner of police, emphasized that the significant achievement was made possible by the State’s excellent inter-service cooperation and teamwork.
To free the public space from the enemy, he emphasized that this will continue to be enhanced between and among all the agencies.
