For the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Bissau, the capital of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, made this announcement in a statement on Saturday night.
Additionally, Tinubu paid a visit to Nigerian soldiers stationed in Guinea-Bissau.
As a result, the President’s first foreign engagement inside the continent after taking office will be at the 63rd Ordinary Session Summit, which will begin on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
The implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Report on the Transition status in the Republics of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea are two concerns that the 16 regional leaders are anticipated to address in memoranda.
Other topics include memoranda on the ECOWAS single currency program and the Report on Barriers to Free Movement of Goods in the Abidjan-Lagos corridor.
During his visit to the Nigerian Troops, the President expressed his gratitude to the soldiers and their commander, General Al-Hassan Grema, for their devotion and service to Nigeria and their host nation, adding that Nigeria would continue to support democracy in West Africa and around the world.
