Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, a Grammy nominee, has explained why he struck a police officer in a recent viral video.
In a widely shared video, the afrobeat singer can be seen hitting a police officer who is on duty.
Kuti responded via his Instagram account on Saturday, saying the police had tried to kill him and his family.
He said that the policeman had expressed regret and had been pardoned.
He urged anyone who claimed he was hunting for influence to mind their own business and prevent the police officer from losing his job.
He attempted to kill me and my family, Kuti wrote. I have the evidence, but I don’t pursue influence. He has expressed regret, and I have decided not to file a complaint.
