Implementation of the Presidential Peace Pact is imminent, offering hope for resolution – Fubara
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed his commitment to implementing the eight-point presidential peace agreement regarding the political crisis in the state.
In his Christmas Broadcast on Monday morning, Governor Fubara emphasized that the agreement will be executed in a manner that upholds the collective interest of the people and democratic values.
He acknowledged his role as a key participant in the saga and stated that after careful examination of the terms, he has concluded that the peace pact is not as negative as it may be portrayed by its opponents.
Governor Fubara emphasized that the peace accord presents an opportunity to achieve much-needed stability in the state, rather than being a detrimental measure. He acknowledged the goodwill demonstrated by both sides involved in the conflict towards implementing the agreement.
Governor Fubara highlighted that the Martin Amaewhule led Assembly has withdrawn the impeached notice, while his government has released the withheld allowance of the State House of Assembly.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for intervening in the political crisis, which he believes reflects the President’s love for Rivers State.
Governor Fubara also extended his appreciation to the people for their support during the crisis and assured them that he will maintain high standards of governance and seek extensive consultation to better serve the state. In the spirit of Christmas, Governor Fubara encouraged citizens to embrace the virtues of Jesus Christ, such as selflessness, genuine love, and true forgiveness.
He assured the people that the coming year, 2024, will witness improved development with the planned completion of strategic infrastructure projects, including a section of the Ring Road Project and the Andoni section of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro unity road.
