Plateau State is facing a new political crisis as sixteen state House of Assembly members who were ousted by the Court of Appeal have vowed to return to the House in defiance of court decisions that nullified their elections.

Because their party did not have the necessary organisation to support candidates in the previous general elections, the Appeal Court removed the 16 members.
This was said by the expelled lawmakers on Monday at a press conference in Jos, the state capital.
The dismissed MPs, led by Ishaku Maren, said that they were entitled to continue serving as Assembly members based on the Supreme Court’s ruling, which upheld Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s election.
When the House is scheduled to reconvene after a two-month break, the MPs said that they would pick up where they left off.
Following his meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday, Governor Mutfwang informed State House correspondents that efforts were underway to find a political as well as a legal remedy to the supposed injustice inflicted upon the PDP MPs dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
