The citizens of Okigwe, especially the vendors at Gariki Market, have been reassured of their utmost safety and security by CP Aboki Danjuma, Commissioner of Police for the Imo State Command.
Following an attack on Wednesday, June 26, which left multiple people injured and six people dead, this assurance has been given.
In the wake of the attack, which was purportedly carried out by members of the banned IPOB and ESN, the CP visited Okigwe for an on-the-spot assessment. He conveyed his sadness over the occurrence and offered his condolences to the relatives of the victims as well as the market leaders.
CP Danjuma stressed that the Command would stop at nothing to make sure the offenders are apprehended and prosecuted.

He declared that the Command would stop at nothing to make sure the offenders are all detained and held accountable.
Additionally, he stated that “police operations are currently being carried out intensively in the area to clamp down on the hoodlums responsible for the senseless act of violence in collaboration with the military and local vigilantes.”
CP Danjuma advised the people of Okigwe to carry out their legal business without fear because sufficient security has been put in place to prevent any similar incidents in the future.
Since security is everyone’s business, the CP pleaded with the locals to continue providing the police and other security agencies with useful intelligence by reporting any suspicious person seen or any covert activity noticed in their neighbourhood to the closest Police Station or by calling 08034773600 or 08098880197.
