A member of the House of Representatives named Jerry Alagbaoso has switched parties, joining the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP is having problems in Imo State, according to Alagbaoso, in a letter that was read aloud on the House floor on Tuesday.
Before the state’s November gubernatorial race, this might deal the PDP a serious blow.
In the Imo State PDP, things are not good. This explains why three of our Imo State-based House of Representatives colleagues who are [of] PDP descent recently switched parties.
“Given the artificial complication and problems caused by PDP in Imo, I won’t be an exception,” said the speaker. These individuals (members) and my colleagues who went over are not satisfied with what is occurring in the Imo PDP, and I am not either, according to Alagbaoso.
Speaker Gbajabiamila responded to the defectors’ departure by comparing it to a large earthquake.
