Nothing would stop the PDP from ousting the APC and Uzodinma from office, Anyanwu boasts of Imo.
Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor in Imo State’s next general election in November, reiterated his commitment to unseating the APC on Tuesday.
He asserts that nothing will prevent the PDP from ousting Gov. Hope Uzodinma from office in the state.
Anyanwu made the comments while speaking to party stakeholders during a meeting held at the party’s state secretariat in Owerri, the capital of Imo.
Additionally, he declared that he would disarm Uzodimma and put an end to his unpopular regime’s antics, which depend solely on intimidation, violence, and electoral fraud to maintain power.
In his own words, “Since my emergence as the Party’s candidate, many members of other political parties in the State have been joining PDP. You will soon see a significant defection of voters to the PDP.
“They are APC and other party members who are now unhappy with this administration. Come November 11, 2023, our Party is poised to win the election, and we continue to represent the people’s last hope. The direction and confidence you have given to me and Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri, my running mate, will produce the required outcomes. The voyage will undoubtedly end in accolades, he promised.
Anyanwu went on to express disappointment that a quick examination of Imo State’s past would be accompanied by suffering and melancholy, given that the APC government had transformed the formerly beautiful, prosperous, and peaceful state into a theater of maladies, wanton killings, poverty, and repressive hostages. He pledged to alleviate the suffering of the populace and alter the unfavorable conditions in Imo.
The State Chairman of the Party for Imo State, Engr. Charles Ugwuh, lamented the disasters that have befallen democracy and the election process in Imo State earlier in his speech. He claimed that the 2023 elections were the worst the people of Imo had ever experienced.
“The impunity and irregularities that marked the general elections of 2023 represent an impudent assault on the freedom of the people to select their political leaders through free, fair, and competitive elections – a fundamental and defining feature of democracy. The democratic process and experience are lost when this basic right is taken away from the people, lamented Ugwuh.
He added that the death of democracy in Nigeria would result if the impunity, cooperation between INEC and security forces, and violent subversion of people will as in Imo State were permitted to become the new model for holding elections.
However, despite the difficulties facing the Imo State elections, Ugwuh urged Stakeholders to remain loyal to the Party, assuring them that the Party has fielded a competent and capable team that will ensure victory for the Party in November.
The highlight of the event was when the State Chairman, Engr. Ugwuh, introduced Senator Samuel Anyanwu, a candidate for governor, and his running companion, Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri, to the stakeholders.
