The LG headquarters in Imo was attacked by gunmen, resulting in the tragic deaths of two security operatives.
Gunmen stormed the Isiala-Mbano local government area headquarters in Imo State on Tuesday night, causing two security personnel to lose their lives.
At approximately 9:30 PM, the attack took place and witnesses claim that the attackers fired without discretion,resulting in residents fleeing to safety.
According to an eyewitness, the gunmen not only eliminated two security operatives on duty but also ignited some parts of the local government building and a number of vehicles.

It is suspected that the attack was aimed at influencing the upcoming primary elections of All Progressives Congress (APC) taking place in 27 LGAs and 306 wards throughout the state.
It was suggested by the source that on that particular night, attackers may have erroneously believed that council headquarters were holding primary elections.
According to the eyewitness, they arrived at approximately 9:30 PM and immediately opened fire on the security personnel, resulting in fatalities. Several others managed to flee but sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Following the incident, a sense of terror has seized hold in the vicinity prompting numerous inhabitants to flee for sanctuary into surrounding towns. The local populace is appealing to government and law enforcement officials for urgent relief measures that might reinstate stability and security.
Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations Officer was unreachable for comment regarding the incident.
