The IPOB/ESN camp in Ihite Owerre, located in the Orlu Local Government Area of Imo, has been raided by the Imo State Police Command in collaboration with the Military. This operation is a result of the Command’s commitment to working together with the Military and other security agencies to eliminate violent crimes in the State.

According to a statement released on Tuesday in Owerri by the Police Public Relations Officer ASP Henry Okoye, the raid on the IPOB/ESN camp was prompted by the abduction of Mr Sabinus Ugwuebu, a Road Safety Officer, and HRH Eze Ohiri, former Eze Imo.

During the operation, the Police, in strong coordination with the Military, stormed a suspected camp in Ihite Owerre, Orlu LGA, Imo State. One suspect was apprehended, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds after a prolonged exchange of gunfire with the terrorists.

ASP Henry Okoye stated that the search conducted at the camp led to the recovery of various items, including a pump action gun, two double barrel guns, two single barrel guns, fifty-four rounds of live cartridges, military uniforms, six motorcycles, a box containing locally made explosives, and road safety uniforms belonging to the kidnapped officer.

Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and potentially rescue the kidnapped victims. Once the investigation is complete, they will be brought before the court for prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has emphasized that the Command will continue to collaborate closely with the Military and other relevant security agencies to eradicate all forms of crime and criminal activities in the State.

He has pledged that the Command will not relent until the kidnapped victims are safely released and the culprits are brought to justice.
