In the early hours of Friday, gunmen kidnapped Chris Ohizu, the sole administrator of Imo State’s Ideato North Local Government Area, along with two other people.
This came after his attackers destroyed his rural home in the Imoko neighbourhood of Arondizuogu.
A source says that the leader of the council was shot before he and two other people were taken away.
The sole administrator of Ideato North was taken hostage last night along with two other people after setting fire to his home in the Imoko hamlet of Arondizuogu, according to the source. Before they removed him, they shot him in the leg. This man recently returned from the hospital. I am currently devastated.
Another person who confirmed the development bemoaned the recent spike in local insecurity.

He stated, “I learned that Ideato North SOLAD’s home had been set on fire and that he had been kidnapped with a gunshot wound to his leg.
“I’ve been reporting this since early this year, and there hasn’t been a single police presence or arrest in Arondizuogu yet. Right now, God is in control.
This happened less than a week after an attack on the rural home of Ugochinyere Imo, the spokesperson for the Coalition of United Political Parties, in the Akokwa community of the Ideato North LGA killed three people and destroyed about 33 vehicles.
Additionally, a man who was going to get married and his brother were both killed last week at Arondizuogu in the Ideato North LGA.
The state’s police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, promised to check and get back when reached, but as of the time this story was filed, he still hadn’t.
