Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for governor of Imo State, has denied a widely circulated video that purportedly showed him resigning before this Saturday’s election.
According to Anyanwu, the popular video was manipulated to trick and mislead the state’s voters.
Anyanwu asked the people of the state to disregard the video in a statement released on Friday by Dumebi Ifeanyichukwu, the director of his campaign council.
He connected the purported video to troublemakers.
The SamJones Governorship Campaign Council is forced to respond to a deceitful film that has been making the rounds and purports to show that Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, our renowned candidate, has dropped out of the gubernatorial contest.
“We firmly declare that this information is completely untrue. It was clear from a close inspection of the film that it had been substantially edited and the audio had been altered to deceive viewers.
On Saturday, there will be a fiercely contested governorship race between Anyanwu and Hope Uzodinma, the current governor.
The PDP nominee had voiced confidence in taking over from Uzodinma.
