The attack on His Royal Highness, Eze (Dr.) Ignatius Asor (fcin), the Udi 1 of Obudi Agwa, at his palace in the state’s Oguta Local Government Area was denounced on Monday by Mohammed Ahmed Barde, the commissioner of police for Imo State.
While urging everyone to be calm, the police chief informed the people of Agwa in particular and Imo State in general that the investigation has started and the command will stop at nothing to apprehend the offenders and subject them to the full force of the law.
Remember that the gunmen attacked the Obudi Agwa village in the Oguta LGA of Imo State on Monday morning, murdering the community’s king and others in the process, as Obasanjonews24 had previously reported.
In a statement made accessible to media in Owerri, the state capital, and signed by police spokesperson Michael Abattam, the police verified the claim.
The CP urged the populace to phone the emergency control centre at 08034773600 or 08098880197, provide the police with reliable information, or report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood to the local police station.
According to a preliminary inquiry, the thugs pretended to be people in distress and arrived with a woman in four cars and two motorbikes to inform him of an emergency issue.
Unaware of their presence, the royal father invited them inside his palace and sat down with them. As they were telling him why they were there, they pulled out weapons, shot and murdered the Eze and two of his attendants, and then hastily escaped the building.
“On the way, they ambushed the Agwa vigilante group’s office, opened fire, killing one person, and stole three motorcycles. Armed with information from eyewitnesses, police officers tracked the hoodlums’ escape route.
