Muhammad Thanni Abdulmumini, the Imam of Iwoland, has been ordered by an Osun State High Court in Osogbo to pay Khalifah Ashiru Adio and Chief Abiola Ogundokun a fine of N500,000.

Justice A. O. Oyebiyi’s decision for Abdulmumini to pay the fine was made available to Obasanjonews.com on Wednesday in the form of a Certified True Copy of the court judgement.

According to information acquired by Obasanjonews.com, Abdulmumini and two other parties filed a writ of summons and statement of claim against Abiola Ogundokun and Khalifa Ashiru Adio on March 3, 2022, sparking the start of the legal dispute.

According to information obtained by Obasanjonews.com, the plaintiffs had also contested the defendants’ authority to suspend or take action against them in relation to their chieftaincy titles, which were held at the Iwo Central Mosque, by requesting many declarations and injunctions.

Following an arduous legal battle, the case was brought up for pretrial conference on May 22, 2024, without the plaintiffs’ attorneys present.

Judge A.O. Oyebiyi presided over the court, which dismissed the plaintiffs’ lawsuit and fined them N500,000.

The plaintiffs’ lack of diligent prosecution of the case led the court to grant the defendants’ prior request for the matter to be dismissed.

The defendants requested the action be dropped out since the cost that was levied against the plaintiffs on November 14, 2022, had not been paid.

Similarly, on May 7, 2024, Justice Nathaniel Ayo Emmanuel of the Federal High Court in Osogbo dismissed a lawsuit brought against Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwoland, regarding the substitution of deceased Board of Trustees members for the Iwo Central Mosque.

The litigants contested Oba Akanbi’s right to succeed deceased Mosque Trustees as head of state.

On November 11, 2022, a writ of summons was issued, and on November 14, 2022, it was filed.

The lawsuit had been dismissed by Justice Ayo Emmanuel for lack of merit.
