Major General Mohammed Usman, the recently promoted Commander of the Brigade of Guards, received praise from the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.), for his work.

After bestowing Usman with the award during a brief ceremony at the Villa, Buhari, who acknowledged that he was very difficult to please, added, “Nobody has been able to touch me while you are here.” My appreciation for your performance is unwavering.

This was said in a press release headed, “President Buhari decorates newly promoted Commander, Brigade of Guards,” and carried the signature of Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.

The officer was awarded the title of Major General by the President with the help of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, and the Commander’s wife, Dr. Rekiya Usman.

“Those who work with me are aware of how challenging I am to please. But I’ve never had any reason at all to bring you up with the Minister of Defense or the Chief of Army Staff, Buhari remarked.

Considering that he too is due to leave office and since he frequently declared, “I will live far away from Abuja,” the President stated that he would give Usman the order for his next assignment.

Buhari congratulated the military officer’s family for their tolerance in dealing with the demanding task that was completed by him with a positive attitude and steadfastness.

Usman thanked the President for his outstanding support of the Brigade of Guards in his remarks, citing the approval for the purchase of 400 armoured vehicles as proof. He claimed that this number of vehicles was sufficient to secure his assigned area, which included the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa State, and portions of Niger State.
