I’m not in office to make excuses -Tinubu
In spite of the fact that the country may be swimming against the current, President Bola Tinubu asserted on Thursday that he is not the kind of leader to offer justifications.
Speaking as he welcomed a powerful 62-man delegation to the presidential villa in Abuja, which included leaders from both the ruling All Progressives’ Congress (APC) and the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he pledged to work hard to ensure that everyone in the nation had access to wealth.
We are not supposed to be in the situation of being poor, according to President Tinubu. We’ll make a change! There is a calm and peaceful space for us somewhere in this storm. We’ll discover it!
“We are not a lazy bunch. We have abundant resources. All we need to do is look out for one another and be good neighbours. I don’t like to make excuses as president. In order to bring prosperity to all Nigerians, I would work assiduously for my country with a purpose. We are not deserving of poverty! We won’t turn around; instead, we’ll advance quickly.
We might be going against the current today. However, soon the waves will be pushing us ahead from behind. We’ll fulfil our forefathers’ hopes and aspirations. The people I currently lead in this country motivate me.
Having been endowed with a wealth of natural resources and great human potential, he asserted that neither Rivers State nor Nigeria had any business being linked to poverty, insecurity, or underdevelopment. He promised that under his leadership, the narrative would be permanently and positively changed.
According to the President, Rivers State will always have direct access to him in their collaborative march towards sustainable development because Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is one of his most dependable allies.
The East-West Road’s Eleme Junction-Onne axis, which connects the Port Harcourt Refinery, was specifically mentioned by President Tinubu as a source of worry for infrastructure development in Rivers State. The President stated that Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, is a strong advisor and would investigate the matter further to ensure fast action.
“The Honourable Minister Wike is not only the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory; he is also a friend and admirer of mine. The State should support him because he has made a strong start, the President said.
The President declared, “I am the Captain and Chief Salesman of the country,” while urging the younger people to exercise more patience with the legislative and judicial processes. In a limited amount of time, we must change the trend and realise the potential. Our citizens have high standards for us. I promise to work hard and I ask God to guide me so I won’t let Nigerians down, the President continued.
In his remarks, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara informed the President that the group, which included political party leaders and former and current members of the State and National Assemblies from various political parties, was in town to show solidarity and express gratitude.
“The belief in justice, equity, and fairness led the people of Rivers State to support you in the most recent general elections. Since the beginning of democracy in 1999, Rivers State has only now begun to properly experience the effects of the federal government, according to him.
The Governor stated that the delegation was very grateful to the President for appointing capable children and grandchildren of the state to key posts within his administration.
The Governor expressed his gratitude to the President in particular for the appointment of the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity & Official Spokesperson of the President, Chief Ajuri Ngelale; and other sons and daughters of Rivers State into the Boards and Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and other institutions.
The Governor commended the President for securing a $14 billion investment approval for projects across the country during the G-20 Summit, including the expansion of Indorama Petrochemicals in Eleme, Rivers State, and added that the State had recently allocated 209 hectares of land in support of the new investment.
