Despite having previously issued a statement apologizing for the act, the lawmaker expressed regret over his actions on Tuesday while speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives and mentioned feeling “embarrassed” by what had transpired.
“Mr. Speaker, esteemed colleagues, I want to reiterate that I am human and acknowledge there were things said for which I have regrets. Regardless of any provocation, I extend my apologies to all Nigerians,” stated the lawmaker from Abia.
There is no reason for me to have reacted that way. I’d like to take this opportunity to appeal to all Nigerians: let’s leave the past behind and move forward together.
