Illegal Adoption: NAPTIP in Anambra received the founder of the convicted orphanage
The founder of Arrows of God Community Children’s Home, Nkwelle 33, Rev. D.C. Ogo, has been turned over to men from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) by Ify Obinabo, the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare.
It was discovered that Rev. Ogo engaged in illegal adoption, allegedly giving away children in her orphanage homes to those looking for children in exchange for cash.
The orphanage was sealed months ago when information from an investigation report surfaced and the facility was found guilty.
Before the house was sealed, the ministry was able to retrieve approximately 20 of the kids that were kept there.
Despite the government’s efforts to eradicate such practises from the state, the commissioner who interrogated the suspect in her office on Wednesday bemoaned the damage persons like Ogo were doing to the state’s reputation.
Despite our countless efforts to purge Anambra State of corrupt adoption practises, consider the negative impression people like you are giving the state.
I’m taking this chance to caution other community children’s home owners to refrain from any illegal activity that may harm the state’s reputation.
Ogo blamed her secretary, whom she identified as Mr. Monday, who oversaw the adoption procedures, in a press statement, according to Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the Commissioner’s media assistant.
She said that due to illness, it took her two months to reappear following the sealing of her orphanage because she was unable to respect the ministry’s summons.
