Ijaw elders extend an apology to Nyesom Wike for Governor Fubara’s actions, expressing regret over the ongoing tensions. Learn more about the political dynamics at play.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elders Forum has unreservedly apologised for the continuing rift between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor, Siminarai Hubara.
At an Ijaw meeting held in honour of Wike in Rivers State on Saturday, the elders led by the NDDC Finance Director, Boma Iyaye, said the Ijaw people regret that Hubara had publicly expressed his scathing disdain for the Minister.
He said: “I apologise on behalf of the people for what our son has done to you, we are sorry, we are sorry because it is not in our nature to return good for evil. You have done us good and we will remain grateful.
“Your Excellency, do not run away because your son has behaved badly. Continue to be our brother. Keep thinking of us.
“We have never contested for the first seat in Rivers State.
The Chairman of Rivers State PDP Elders Forum, Ferdinand Anabulaba, also spoke on the issue, saying the Ijaw people would not forget Wike.
“The dissensions we see in the Rivers State government only show a lack of political resolve on the part of individuals and in no way reflect the views of the Ijaw people.
We see the light of Rivers State in you. You are indeed a great strategist in the current Nigerian politics and without a doubt, you are the most well-known Ijaw politician with national visibility.”
