Former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has declared his absence from the PDP governorship primaries.
A letter to the party’s national chairman detailed the situation.
Ihedioha, who led the state for seven months before the Supreme Court declared Hope Uzodimma the victor of the 2019 gubernatorial election, gave the party’s interest as his explanation for the surprising resignation.

He stated, “For the sake of harmony and unity within the Party, I have chosen to make the personal sacrifice of resigning from future participation in the procedures leading to the emergence of the gubernatorial candidate.”
He begged his followers to comprehend and accept his choice, regretting that those who had begun organising for him may be let down.
And I’m certain that many of them who have independently begun mobilising for me in Imo State will be let down.
He said, “I truly beg their understanding, as well as that of friends, supporters, and especially the electorate, who have throughout the years associated themselves with and identified with my political goals.”
