Frank Mba, a former police spokesperson, has been recommended to the Police Service Commission for the position of Commissioner of Police in Ogun State by Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba.

According to a Punch report, the IGP also suggested Idowu Owohunwa for the position of Lagos State Police Commissioner, according to a Punch report.

This was stated in a document signed by the IGP and Force Secretary, AIG Hafiz Inuwa, on behalf of the publication on Thursday.

It was learned that the PSC had not yet given its approval to the recommendations.

On Thursday, trustworthy PSC sources told The Punch that the recommendation was a positive step and that it demonstrated that the Nigeria Police Force now respected the PSC’s constitutional authority to affirm and approve the recommendation or to reject it based on its discretion.

The sources further mentioned that Lanre Bankole and Abiodun Alabi, the current CPs of the Ogun and Lagos commands, are eligible for promotion to the position of assistant inspector general of police.

“Your letter is accurate. This is a positive trend, and it demonstrates that the PSC’s constitutional obligation to adopt such proposals is now respected by the NPF and the IG, a source said.

Although the PSC has not yet adopted the recommendation, we are pleased that the NPF is now adhering to our constitutional role and hope that this will continue.
