IGP Sues Former Anambra Senator Andy Uba for Alleged N400M Fraud

The Inspector-General of Police files a lawsuit against ex-Senator Andy Uba, accusing him of involvement in a N400 million fraud case.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has approved Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun’s request to bring former Anambra South Senatorial District lawmaker, Senator Andy Uba, to trial on a two-count charge related to an alleged N400 million fraud.

Justice Ekwo scheduled February 18, 2025, for the defendant’s plea in response to allegations of defrauding George Uboh. This charge arose from a petition filed by Uboh with the police.

The IGP accused the defendants and one Hajiya Fatima, who is reportedly missing, of conspiring in 2022 to deceive the complainant by falsely claiming they could secure the managing director position at Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for anyone willing to pay N400 million. The defendants allegedly knew this claim was untrue.

They were reportedly accused of committing an offense that violates Section 8 and is punishable under Section 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act of 2006.
