Usman Baba, the Inspector General of Police, has launched a database to collect the biometric data and records of all the nation’s police officers.
The IGP officially opened the Police “SmartForce” Database Management Center on Wednesday in Abuja.
This information may be found in a statement made by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer.
According to him, the centre would make sure that personnel records were complete and correct so that personnel could be easily tracked down and sent to operational locations.
Adejobi added that another goal of the plan was to relieve administrative congestion.
He claims that the Nigeria Police Force National Command and Control Center is home to the SmartForce and its storage servers.

The technology will help with personnel deployment planning, budgetary concerns, and people tracing and identification.
The retrieval of records pertaining to active and retired police officers will also be made easier, he added.
The I-G also launched continuing training for police public relations officers and ICT personnel from 36 states and the FCT, according to a Force official.
He clarified that the training was on how to use the devices that were provided for recording data on all workers.
According to Adejobi, the gadgets’ high-tech biometric machines have been updated with capabilities like fingerprint scanners and facial recognition software.
The database, he continued, was in accordance with the I-goal of creating a police force that was technologically advanced.
According to a Force spokeswoman, the I-G instructed all commands and formations to revamp the outdated procedure and transition to the digitalized one.
