Ignore Northern groups because Nnamdi Kanu’s continuing detention will cause Nigeria to collapse – IPOB warns Tinubu
The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, have warned against keeping their leader Nnamdi Kanu detained, saying that doing so would bring down Nigeria.
In response to a request from the Coalition of Northern Group, CNG, urging President Bola Tinubu not to release Kanu, IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, issued the warning.
The Northern coalition was criticised by Powerful for being illiterate in its advice to Tinubu not to release Kanu.
Powerful reminded the coalition in a statement he signed that Kanu had been released and found not guilty by an Abuja Appeal Court, thus Tinubu should request his release.
He implored Tinubu to follow Nigerians’ recommendations and release the IPOB leader in the nation’s best interests.
He admonished them to stay away from Kanu’s unlawful and unconstitutional detention “or we will shred what is left of their relevance.”
According to Powerful, “The herders Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) that are asking the Nigerian President to let the law take its course are so illiterate that they didn’t realise that the Appeal Court of Nigeria in Abuja has already dismissed and acquitted Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“The Nigerian administration is breaking both national and international laws.
If Nigeria doesn’t become a democratic nation, release our leader, and support a United Nations-supervised referendum, the IPOB, a legal and nonviolent movement, would legally sink Nigeria on a national and international level.
The sooner this administration heeds the counsel of sane individuals throughout the globe and releases Kanu unconditionally and pays him the compensation ordered by the Abuja Court of Appeal and Umuahia High Court, the better for everyone. The Coalition of Northern Bandits’ plan to keep Mazi Nnamdi KANU in an illegal prison for as long as possible would destroy Nigeria and all of its benefits.
