In contrast to the assertions of opposition parties including the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Labour Party, LP, Bola Tinubu’s campaign officials notified members of the foreign media that the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate won the elections on February 25.

The representatives of Tinubu spoke on Wednesday at the National Press Center in Washington, DC, under the direction of Festus Keyamo, the APC presidential campaign spokesperson.

Aides to the president Anjuri Ngelale and Sunday Dare, the minister of youths and sports, were also present.

Only Tinubu, according to Keyamo’s prepared language, fulfils the conditions of the constitution to win the election.

The PDP suffered a significant blow, according to the minister of state for employment, with the exodus of Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s presidential candidate.

The main opposition, the PDP, had some significant setbacks with about eight months till the elections. The party’s vice presidential candidate for 2019, Mr. Peter Obi, joined the Labor Party with the backing of many of his fans, many of whom came from his home area, the South-East,” Keyamo stated.

“Alhaji Musa Kwakwanso, another of the party’s primary pillars of support in the north-west, joined the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), carrying with him a number of the followers in that area.

“Five of the PDP’s 14 governors officially stated they would not be supporting the party’s presidential candidate or engaging in any political activity” (Alhaji Atiku Abubakar).

While this was happening, neither any of the ruling party’s elected representatives left nor was there any public opposition to them. Instead, the party remained one enormous, indivisible organisation. All the parties entered the elections given the current situation.

“The PDP candidate received a 25 percent or higher rating in just 21 states, falling short of the 24 necessary, and the Labour Party candidate received a 25 percent or higher rating in 15 states and the federal capital area, making it 16 States total.

For these candidates who lacked the necessary level of public acceptance, there was just no way to win.
