Ighodalo has initiated a N20 billion defamation lawsuit against Adams Oshiomhole. The legal action alleges serious damage to Ighodalo’s reputation. Read about the details of the suit and the accusations involved.

Asue Ighodalo, who is running for governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State’s September 21 election, has taken legal measures against Senator Adams Oshiomhole. He has filed a N20 billion defamation lawsuit over remarks made about the Planwell scheme.

Ighodalo, represented by Ayo Asala (SAN) & Associates, has requested that Oshiomhole retract his statement and apologize promptly and unconditionally.

At least two national television networks and three widely circulated newspapers should publish the retraction.

Ighodalo argues that Oshiomhole’s accusations are unfounded and malicious, with the sole intention of besmirching his image in pursuit of political advantage. He characterizes these allegations as just one more instance of slanderous claims emanating from the Senator who serves as representative for Edo North Senatorial District.

Ighodalo’s lawyers sent a legal letter on September 16, 2024 outlining their client’s request for retraction and compensation due to the harm caused by what they claim are false claims.

Ighodalo maintains that his candidacy and the PDP’s chances in the upcoming election are being targeted by baseless allegations intended to weaken their position.

We have received information that during a campaign rally held by your party on September 14th, 2024, you made remarks insinuating that our client Dr. Ighodalo was involved with or had partaken in a purported pyramid scheme referred to as “PLANWELL,” which resulted in several Nigerians losing their hard-earned money due to fraudulence.
