Igbos who reside in Finland have disavowed Nnamdi Kanu, the self-described disciple of IPOB, the banned organisation.

The change was made because Simon Ekpa’s forced sit-at-home protest against the federal government led to a lot of deaths in the area.

Nigerian Ekpa, who lives in Finland, recently made headlines when he told everyone in the area to stay home for five days. This led to the deaths of innocent people and the destruction of both public and private property.

According to a statement issued on behalf of the Igbo community in Finland by Kingsley Orji, Ekpa was most recently summoned and questioned about the security situation in Southeast.

They blamed him for the ongoing security problem in the area, which has been going on since 2021, when the Department of State Security Services put the leader of IPOB back in jail.

The Igbo Community in Finland firmly denounces Mr. Simon Ekpa’s seditious remarks and deeds, which have taken on a dangerously violent dimension of killing and devastation anytime he makes such commands, yet we accept and recognise the right of individuals to voice their ideas.

It is difficult to travel and conduct business in Igbo territory because of his threats and his group’s violent operations in southeast Nigeria.

The statement says, “Simon Ekpa is strongly warned against using social media to spread threats of violence, as this angers the Igbo people of Nigeria.”
