Igboho voices his opposition to the planned protest over economic hardship, questioning the necessity and potential outcomes of the protest.

Sunday Adeyemo, also referred to as Sunday Igboho and recognized for advocating the secession of Yoruba Nation, has voiced his opposition towards the planned nationwide protest set for August 1 due to prevailing difficulties in Nigeria.

On Monday night, Igboho released a statement in which he claimed that President Bola Tinubu has been implementing policies with the political courage his predecessors lacked since assuming office on May 29 of last year.

According to him, each country faces a variety of challenges and President Tinubu is actively working towards alleviating the difficulties that afflict this nation.

Igboho emphasized that although peaceful protest is protected by the country’s constitution, it should not be used to advocate for an unconstitutional change of government. He observed that during President Buhari’s eight years in office, there were no protests calling for a regime change from the Southwest region despite being subjected to persecution and acts of violence orchestrated by Fulani terrorists.

“I, Chief Sunday Igboho am issuing this press release in response to the planned protests by unknown and faceless individuals who seek to disintegrate our country,” he stated.

Ever since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, he has introduced groundbreaking policies that his predecessors lacked the courage to pursue.

The audacious actions taken have unsurprisingly bothered those who feel entitled to govern Nigeria. As a result, there are efforts to hinder the current administration’s progress – especially through social media tactics aimed at fostering division between the government and citizens.

“Unknown individuals have issued warnings regarding a planned event called ’10 days of rage’, set to commence on August 1st, 2024 and using the catchphrase ‘Tinubu Must Go!'”

Although our constitution guarantees the right to engage in peaceful protest, it does not allow for advocating an unjustifiable overthrow of a regime. What is noteworthy is that throughout President Buhari’s eight-year term, there were no such protests calling for regime change from Southwest even when Fulani terrorists subjected our people to violence and atrocities.
