It has been advised that parties to the recent fighting between Ifon and Ilobu give priority to conversation as a means of achieving peace.

Ajibola Basiru, the All Progressives Congress’ national secretary, issued this call.

In a statement, Basiru denounced the clashes that had claimed lives and destroyed property.

He continued by expressing his compassion and identification with the victims.

“I appeal to the government, local authorities, elders in the community, and traditional leaders to take concrete action to quell the tension that has sparked the conflagration.

“I think that having fruitful conversations, putting conflict resolution procedures in place, and engaging in peaceful negotiations will foster an enduring and lasting concord between the warring communities and bring about a widespread peace in Osun State.

In order to create stronger communities, encourage physical and economic progress, and ensure a better future for the next generation, he stated, “it is our collective responsibility to come together as citizens, set aside our differences, and recognise our shared history, culture, and norms.”

The APC National Scribe also made a plea to the media and civil society groups to support efforts for peace by disseminating themes of amity, unity, and hope.
