If Not for God’s Intervention, $1 Could Have Reached ₦10,000 – Adeboye

Pastor E.A. Adeboye credits divine intervention for stabilizing Nigeria’s economy, claiming the dollar could have hit ₦10,000 without God’s grace.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), stated that without divine intervention, the exchange rate could have escalated to ₦10,000 per $1.

During the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, Adeboye attributed Nigeria’s financial difficulties to its heavy dependence on fuel imports, even though it is a major oil-producing country.

He criticized the billions spent on refineries that remain non-operational, forcing the country to rely on imported petrol.

Commenting on the controversial elimination of fuel subsidies, Adeboye noted that this decision upset those who had benefited from the previous arrangement, further worsening Nigeria’s economic challenges.

“We need assistance, and it’s not from humans; it’s divine,” he stressed.

Adeboye emphasized that Nigeria’s financial challenges have origins predating the current administration, noting the persistent importation of petrol despite having ample oil resources.

Before our current President assumed office, we recognized that the core of our financial problems was tied to petrol imports. Although we possessed oil resources, we kept importing petrol and squandered billions on inefficient refineries.

“The President’s cancellation of the petrol import subsidy upset those who had benefited from it, leading them to create further issues,” he added.

Reflecting on the naira’s swift devaluation, Adeboye mentioned that he resorted to prayer and expressed appreciation for those who joined him.

“If it weren’t for divine intervention, $1 might have been equivalent to ₦10,000 by now. This shows how essential prayers are,” he remarked.
